I haven’t posted on the blog for a while, but since it’s still winter I wanted to write a little bit about my Vogue8930 coat. I But this pattern ages ago but it’s only this year but I’ve made it. One of the things that dissuaded me was that it required a lot fabric to make the version C, which is the version I wanted to make.
With version feet requiringA whopping more than 6 yards of fabric, I didn’t want to bite the bullet. Being me, I found a fabric from Mood that I liked and decided to purchase 3 yards of a “famous nyc designer” fabric.
With no actual plan, I let the fabric languish for a while. Eventually, I pulled it out to start the coat and lay the pattern over the uncut fabric to see if the idea that I’d had brewing would work.
Typically, I would have made a medium, but I had read enough reviews to know that the pattern runs large, so I planned on making a small which helped reduce fabric needs.
My other idea was to shorten the jacket to the length of view B. By doing this I was able to make a view C out of half the fabric you are directed to use.
Other than that, I made the jacket as instructed and added a large snap so that it could close it a bit. Since View C has you partially line it with self fabric, it can be pretty warm!
